At Veterinary and Poultry Supply, Inc. we are in the process of opening our new pharmacy, VPSI Pharmacy, to continue to supply you with the products that you have always gotten from us that are switching to Rx status at the beginning of the year. We’ve been hearing from many producers that are concerned about how the new regulations will affect their operation, so we’ve put together some information to address some of your concerns.
We’re still the same company you have come to know and trust. We will continue to provide the same quality of service that you have become accustomed to. That means we will still deliver directly to you, even prescription products. You rely on us for convenience, which is something that won’t be changing!
We are being proactive about following every guideline that the FDA, State Board of Animal Health and the Pharmacy Board are putting in place. Rest assured that we are doing everything on our end to make sure that we as a company are complying with the new regulations, so you as the producer can also be in compliance. As new regulations are finalized and released we will be informing you immediately.
While many have seen these changes as a cause for concern, we see it as an opportunity. Not only will we be able to continue supplying you with the products you previously purchased from us that are going Rx, but we will also be able to carry products through our pharmacy that we couldn’t before because of prescription status. This means that we can now be your one-stop-shop for prescription and over the counter drugs and health supplies, without you ever needing to step foot in a pharmacy or vet clinic.
Here’s what we need from our producers to continue to provide you with the convenience and service that you’ve come to expect. At the first of the year you’ll need to get a prescription from your vet for the products you use that will no longer be over the counter medications. Your vet can authorize prescriptions for a period of up to one year. We will be able to begin filling prescriptions in December. Have your vet mail, fax or call in the prescription to us then. We’ll fill the prescription as you need it. It’s that simple!
You can also give written prescriptions directly to your sales rep.
VPSI Pharmacy is on track to open December 1, 2016. However, it’s possible that it will be operational before that date. If the pharmacy is ready before December you will notified. When our pharmacy opens, it will have its own contact information where prescriptions can be sent or called in. You will be notified when that information becomes available. Thank you!
