All About the 2015 LoveWay Ride A Thon

The 2015 LoveWay Ride-A-Thon is just around the corner. If you haven't heard by now, Loveway Inc. is a non-profit organization in Middlebury, IN. They offer therapeutic equestrian services for individuals with physical, mental and/or emotional disabilities. So, what is the Ride-A-Thon? We're glad you asked!

Fun for the Whole Family
LoveWay Ride-A-Thon Pancake Breakfast
Pancake Breakfast served from 7 am - 10:30 am

This year, Saturday, October 10th, marks the 21st annual Ride-A-Thon for LoveWay. The Ride-A-Thon is a trail ride fundraiser with plenty of activities the whole family can enjoy. A minimum of $35 is required to register to participate in the trail ride on your horse. However, having a horse is not a requirement to participate in the event. Go early to enjoy a Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Elkhart Exchange Club. The breakfast will be open to all guests from 7:00 am to 10:30 am. The Lead Off time for the trail ride is at 10 am, but if you aren't riding there is still plenty to do! A Family Fun Fair for kids ages 3 to 12 will be going on from 10 am to 2 pm. The Fun Fair will include carnival games, a  bounce house, face painting, pony rides, food, and more! The fun fair has a $5 entry that will include lunch and unlimited access to the activities.

Bake Sale and Tack Sale

LoveWay Horse Tack Sale
"Tack Sale" will be located in LoveWay's riding arena during the Ride-A-Thon

In addition to the Fun Fair and trail ride, there will also be a "Bake Sale" with various homemade goodies available. New this year is a "Tack Sale" that will be held in the arena. You can donate your gently used tack to LoveWay to sell during the "Tack Sale". Donations can be dropped off at LoveWay's address, 54151 County Road 33, Middlebury, IN 46540, or Vet & Poultry's Goshen Store at 120 S. Greene Road, Goshen, IN 46526

For A Good Cause

The proceeds from the event, including the "Tack Sale", go towards the riders of LoveWay through their Rider Scholarship Program. The event is open to the public so bring your kids, family, and friends! It takes the support of the community for organizations like LoveWay to continue offering therapeutic services to the people who need them. A recent comment from LoveWay's director, Daryl Abbott, after the Derby Day fundraiser in May sheds light on just how much funds are required for rider scholarships:

“Derby Day was our most successful event to date and we are looking forward to our golf outing in August and Ride a Thon in October. Even with all of our fundraising successes, $100,000 is still needed every year to cover student rider scholarships. Thank you all for freely giving of yourselves so that our riders can experience the joys of riding. You are a blessing.”

How To Participate

If you aren't able to ride or be there for the actual event then you can still help out. You can donate your used tack for the "Tack Sale" at LoveWay or Vet & Poultry's Goshen Store. LoveWay also has a FirstGiving fundraiser page where you can support them directly. Don't forget to mark your calendars for the upcoming Ride-A-Thon!
