Happy New Year! The start of 2017 brings a big change to the livestock industry. The FDA announced on January 3, that it has completed implementation of Guidance for Industry #213. This guidance began in 2013 to transition medically important antimicrobial drugs used in feed or drinking water of food-producing animals to veterinary oversight and eliminate the use of these products in animals for production purposes, such as growth promotion.
