Are You Considering a Career in Agriculture?

If you didn't already know, today (March 15, 2016) is National Ag Day 2016! People around the country are celebrating the people who work hard year round to feed the world.

Are you considering a career in agriculture? Great! According to research, it's one of the best fields for new college graduates. We're celebrating Ag Day by providing you with the resources you need to start your career in agriculture.

What Careers are Available in Agriculture?

Simply put, there are just too many possible careers to list here! With over 200 potential careers in the agriculture industry, you're sure to find something that fits you. We'll narrow it down to 11 categories.

Have you heard of AgCareers.com? It's the leading online job board for agriculture, food, and biotechnology. It brings together job seekers and employers just in the agriculture industry.

More Resources

Here are a few resources to help you get started:

  1. USDA- The USDA looks at a report from Purdue University and discusses the future outlook for the agriculture industry, including projected job availability.
  2. Agday.org- Ok, we already mentioned Agday.org, but the website is chock full of great resources for Ag Day 2016!
  3. 4-H- How could we talk about the future of agriculture without including 4-H? Did you know that local 4-H chapters often offer scholarships for 4-Hers? If you're in Indiana be sure to check out Purdue's 4-H scholarship page.
  4. FFA- The FFA also has some great resources available to its members. The FFA even has a page on their website dedicated to careers within FFA.

There are plenty of resources (and scholarships!) out there for people interested in a career in agriculture. If you're looking for a rewarding career in a diverse field that's growing, then look no further! A career in agriculture just might be perfect for you.
